QuietFeet™ Installation Instructions
These instructions will tell you how to install your new QuietFeet™ in an easy-to-follow manner. If you are used to taking the lid off your PC, you should find the installation reasonably straightforward. You may like to print out these instructions so you can refer to them while you are upgrading your machine. These instructions are for guidance only and no responsibility or liability can be borne by QuietPC.com for damage or loss incurred, (including data loss) howsoever caused, either directly or consequentially.
IMPORTANT: Before starting, ensure you have backed-up the data on your hard drive. You should be in the habit of doing this regularly in any case, as hard drives are never 100% reliable and total data loss can be disastrous if no other copy exists. The hard drive is at a higher than normal risk of failure due to accidental damage while a PC upgrade is in progress.
These neat feet are sweet! They are easy to install and just plain fun to play with. They are also a marvel of modern vibration isolation technology and extremely efficient in their job of cutting down transmission of noise. Installation typically takes no more than 5-10 minutes and requires only a screwdriver to open your PC case.
1. Size Matters
Make sure you have selected the appropriate size of QuietFeet™ for the total unit weight that you intend to install the QuietFeet™ on. QuietFeet™ come in three sizes, each pack of four feet is designed to work best within a particular range of weight. *
2. Remove old feet
You can attach the QuietFeet™ directly to the existing feet on your unit in some cases but we do not recommend this method. We do recommend that you remove the existing feet on the unit, noting where the feet are attached as you do so.
3. Clean destination surface
Make sure the surface to which you intend to attach the QuietFeet™ is clean.
4. Peel and Stick
Peel off the white protector from the QuietFeet™ to expose the adhesive, and carefully stick each foot on the unit where you removed the old feet.
5. Clean with water
That’s all there is to it! QuietFeet™ can be safely cleaned with water if you ever need to clean them.
6. Compression is normal
QuietFeet™ will compress (smush down) when you apply weight to them. This is normal. Do not apply more weight to them than they are designed to carry, or they could be damaged.
- The ‘Small’ (Micro) QuietFeet™ are designed to support between 2-5 lbs (0.9-2.2 kg) each for a total weight of 8-20 lbs (3.6-9 kg). They are effective on lighter loads but they become progressively less effective the lighter they are loaded.
The ‘Medium’ (Standard) QuietFeet™ are designed for a load of 5-10 lbs each (2.2-4.5 kg) for an optimised working range of 20-40 lbs (9-18 kg) total weight for a pack of four. Medium QuietFeet™ are best suited to virtually all except the heaviest desktop computers.
The ‘Large” (Heavy Duty) QuietFeet™ are designed for a working range of 10-15 lbs each, (4.5-6.8 kg) or 40-60 lbs (18-27 kg) total weight for a pack of four. However, you can use as many feet you wish on one unit as long as you don’t mix-and-match different feet sizes. For example, if you have a particularly heavy server at 80 lbs, you could use six Heavy Duty QuietFeet™.
